Amity’s famous flyer — From the jungles of Papua Island, off Australia’s coast, comes word of the spectacular air ride of Harry Davis, Lawrence, Mass., pilot and former auto mechanic there, who is a native of Amity, Maine. The possibility looms that he will be flying the mail between Port Moresby, Daru, Thursday Island and Australia.
Sharing the road with sleds — Six town streets in Houlton have been designated by the Board of Selectmen as places where sliding will be permitted. Signs will be placed in the middle of the designated streets reading: “Sliding Permitted on This Street. Drive Cautiously.”
