CARIBOU — New Sweden brothers Luke and Lance Lagasse were busy this holiday season selling Christmas wreaths created by mother-and-daughter team Katie and Simone Michaud of Perham, with the help of some close friends. The profits from the wreath sales were donated to the Caribou Fire & Ambulance Department for their annual toy drive.

The Lagasse boys sold 12 wreaths, mostly to relatives, for a total of $270. The money will be used to purchase toys for children in need throughout the seven communities CFAD serves.

Monetary donations for the toy drive and donations of toys are accepted at the fire department all throughout the year. According to Caribou firefighter Mike Divito, who spearheaded the project this year, the National Guard also donated several boxes of toys.

The toys are wrapped by members of the fire department and are delivered on the Saturday before Christmas each year. This is the fourth year that the Lagasse brothers have worked on the wreath sales for the department.

Divito expressed his appreciation to all supporters of the toy drive. “Thank you to all for the help throughout the year,” he said, “and happy holidays to everyone!”
