Guerrette earns underwriter designation

    State Farm Agent Doug Guerrette has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) professional designation from The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
    Candidates for the CLU designation must complete a minimum of eight courses and 16 hours of supervised examinations. They must also fulfill stringent experience and ethics requirements. Over 101,000 individuals have been awarded the CLU designation since The College was founded in 1927.

    CLU is the highest standard of knowledge and trust and the world’s most respected designation of insurance expertise. University of Pennsylvania Wharton School professor Solomon S. Huebner, Ph.D., created the CLU program to meet the career education needs of men and women in life insurance and related financial services. This prestigious course of study provides professionals with in-depth knowledge on the insurance needs of individuals, families and business owners.  Once the program is completed, a CLU can provide expert advice on a broad range of financial topics including life and health insurance, pension planning, insurance law, income taxation, investments, financial and estate planning, and group benefits.
    Guerrette was born and raised in St. Agatha and currently resides in Mapleton with his wife Louise and his three children Brad, Taylor and Allison. His State Farm Agency is located at 29 Military St. in Houlton. He has been with State Farm Insurance for nine years in various roles.
    Prior to joining State Farm Insurance, Guerrette worked in the accounting and finance field for nine years. He holds a MBA with a concentration in information technology from Southern New Hampshire University, a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Bryant College, and an associate’s degree in business administration from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. He also has a CPA certificate, and is a four-year veteran of the United States Marines.
