Financial aides
move onto hospital campus
PRESQUE ISLE — Financial guides at The Aroostook Medical Center have moved from their location at North Street onto the A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital campus. The move is expected to allow financial guides to better assist patients in obtaining financial assistance and providing options that are best for the patient.
“The financial guides here at TAMC work really hard to assist patients with finding financial assistance that they may qualify for,” said Tanya Plante, manager of patient accounts. “Many patients qualify for some form of assistance.”
Financial guides, which were recently referred to as “financial counselors,” work with patients who do not have insurance or who do have insurance, but with high deductibles or coinsurance, to offer payment plans. They connect patients with funding sources such as MaineCare or Free Care to determine whether patients are eligible. They are also responsible for assisting patients during the application process for Free Care.
“This move will be of great benefit to patients who have been admitted to the hospital, as well as day surgery patients,” said Plante.
Their new offices are located in the basement level right around the corner from the Garden Side Café.
