McCain Foods USA Inc. is the 2012 recipient of the Maine Sports Legends President’s Award for its continued support of the Legends group’s scholar/athlete scholarship donation to the students in the Northern Maine District.

Accepting the award is Dave McKenney, right, McCain Food’s plant manager. Presenting the award is Steve Shaw, left, representing the Maine Sports Legends northern region, and Susan Lougee, president of Maine Sports Legends. The award is presented at the annual banquet held in October at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville and goes to those Maine businesses that recognize the importance of continuing the education of our youth in Maine. Eight scholarships are given out every year to a boy and girl from each of the four Maine regions. The 2012 Northern Maine scholarship winners were Isaac LaJoie from Presque Isle and Brooke LaBelle from Ashland.
