Smokey is an 8-month-old spayed, grayish, long-hair torti female who was just recently spayed after she finished nursing five kittens. Volunteers at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue say that she is clean, gentle, extremely loving, and will be great with a full family with cats, dogs and kids. All of her medical work is completed and her adoption fee this Saturday is only $5 between noon and 3 p.m. Those interested in adopting Smokey can call Mary Rowe at 999-1075. On Saturday, all young adults that have been with HHPR for over 30 days will have a special adoption price of only $5; adoptable adult cats have tested negative for Leukemia/AIDS, have been spayed or neutered, wormed and received a parasite prevention treatment, and have received their distemper and rabies vaccinations. The shelter’s new location at 489 South Main St. is open every Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. and by appointment only for other adoptions. HHPR is a 501 c3 non-profit; their mailing address is PO Box 488, Caribou, Maine 04736. Their website is www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org and they can be found on petfinder.com and Facebook.
