PERHAM & CHAPMAN – Millege L. Dyer Jr., 80, died December 14, 2012, at his daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Chapman after a long brave battle with cancer. He was born in Presque Isle, June 16, 1932, the son of Millege Sr. & Eleanor (Farley) Dyer.
He worked on the AVR and B&A Railroads, as well as for Walter Huston & then Russell Huston. He worked for McCain’s Foods in Washburn and then at Interstate Foods in Fort Fairfield. He also served in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2599 of Presque Isle. He was a member of the Perham Baptist Church. He worked hard all his life, but he always tried to bring a smile to anyone’s face when he met them.
Surviving in addition to his constant canine companion, Rosie; he is survived by four children & their spouses, William & Pat Dyer of Perham, Jeannie & Peter Wilcox of Chapman, Harold & Valerie Dyer of Somersworth, NH, Charlene & Andrew Stepp of Hermon, ME; 12 grandchildren from oldest to youngest, Sue, Charles, Melissa, Dale, Danielle, Beth, Joey, Robert, Matt, Mackenzie, Morgan & Danna; he is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trey, Cameron, Lilly, Haley & Aiden; a very special sister-in-law, Alaska Dyer of Cornish, ME; a sister, Glenna Bragg of Washburn.
Besides being predeceased by his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, in 1998, Roberta M. (Henderson) Dyer; one son, Howard J. Dyer; a brother, Carl F. Dyer, & three sisters, Thelma Wombolt, Goldie Murphy and Hazel Goodine.
Family and friends called at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
