Students of the Month
Congratulations to Justin Farley, the November WDHS Student of the Month.
Justin Farley,
a senior this year, is a pleasure to talk to when you meet him in the halls of WDHS.
He has been an integral part of the soccer team during his high school years.
He also loves to hunt and fish and spend time outdoors.
In the past, he has volunteered for Aroostook Pediatrics, helping the group with fundraisers and working with the bike-a-thon.
Rayah Saucier
was Washburn District High School’s Student of the Month for October.
If you are walking through the halls of WDHS, you cannot miss Rayah! She always greets you with a smile and her bubbly personality is infectious.
During the school day, Rayah volunteers one period each day to work in the library.
Her love of reading has been a real inspiration to other students and she does a fantastic job recommending books to others.
As an athlete, Rayah has been a leader in every sport at WDHS, including the girls’ soccer team.
As goalie, Rayah’s determination and grit is an inspiration to the girls on the field.
The latest news flash for Rayah: She just tied the school record for shut-outs with 21 in her high school career!
Caitlyn Roix,
a junior at WDHS, was the September Student of the Month.
She leads a very busy life this year as a member of the NHS and working as an aide for Ms. Tatlock.
When you visit the school, if you notice quotes or graphics on the windows around the front of the school, you’ll know that Caitlyn has been busy decorating.
She is also the cheery voice we hear each morning and noontime on announcements.
Caitlyn is on the soccer team and has also run cross country.
When basketball season begins, she will be on the floor as one of our cheerleaders.

Students give back
The Washburn Beavers Varsity Club has been busy over the past year improving the grounds at SAD 45. The Varsity Club, through fundraisers and donations, were able to provide two soccer dugouts for the boys’ soccer fields. The dugouts were built by the high school industrial arts classes under the instruction of Mr. Donald Hanson and were installed on the field over the summer.
Students enjoyed the chance to help give back to their school and community while learning a great deal about the building construction trade. This opportunity gave these students the chance to complete larger projects that would not have been possible without these donations. Thanks to the students in the industrial arts program, the soccer players will now have a dry place to keep out of the rain and help block the wind during their games.
The Varsity Club thank two local businesses for the donations of materials to the project. Without the support from these local businesses they would not have been able to build the dugouts. The Varsity Club has plans of building two more dugouts for the girls’ soccer field in the near future.
