CARIBOU — The generous spirit that the holiday season has a tendency to bring forth in individuals and businesses is currently on display at one Caribou auto dealership.
The staff of Gagnon’s Auto and RV Sales wanted to participate in a project to aid children of the community, so after some deliberation about what they could do, they decided to hold a hats and mittens drive at the dealership.
Collecting enough hats and mittens so that various local organizations can keep a supply of the warm clothing on hand for children who may have lost or forgotten their hats or mittens, or simply don’t have any, is the goal of Gagnon’s drive.
Gagnon’s is requesting that members of the community donate either hand-knit or purchased hats and mittens, or they can make a cash donation for the purchase of the items, and bring them to Gagnon’s dealership on South Main St. in Caribou to be distributed to various organizations throughout Caribou.
According to Gagnon’s General Manager Pam Wilcox, the dealership has been holding the drive for a few weeks now and it is already popular. The donations they have received so far are on display in the lobby of their parts department with tags acknowledging the donors. In addition to hats and mittens, some wool socks have also been donated, and those are welcome as well.
Donations may be dropped off at Gagnon’s until Friday, Dec. 21. The items will be distributed throughout Caribou. Anyone interested in further information may contact Wilcox at Gagnon’s at 493-3358.
