Five days after Halloween, the ghosts were still out at Southern Aroostook Community School and they put on an exciting and thrilling show as band students from the school held their fall concert on Nov. 5.
According to band director, Kermit McGary, the crowd loved the song “Ghost Band,” written by Robert W. Smith. The song begins with a dark and mysterious introduction and leads to a delightful haunting melody. It includes a lot of sound effects and even a couple of former band members.
Some other songs that the band performed included such popular favorites as “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “Eye of the Tiger,” and “Jeepers Creepers.”
Band members also played a variety of solos and ensemble works that they had been perfecting since the beginning of the school year.
The grade 7 through 12 high school band includes 33 members and the grade 6 band is made up of eight members. The grade 5 band, which includes 16 members, will have their first performance at the Christmas concert in December.
