Local music group “Kindred Harps” has just released their second album. Entitled “Kindred Harps Presents Music to Celebrate All Creatures,” the album is dedicated to the memory of Bingo, a golden retriever who belonged to harper Lou Ellis. Bingo passed away earlier this year.
The album consists of many favorite songs about the animal world as well as several original compositions by group member Barbara Hogan. It also includes two compositions by well-known harpists and composers Rojean Louks and Sharon Thormahlen. It concludes with a lovely tribute to Bingo and to all the beloved pets many of us have loved and lost. Music is performed by Kindred Harps, a children’s chorus directed by Mary Miller and features Kelly Ellis on flute. It was produced by Brian McMann. All profits from the album will go to benefit The Houlton Humane Society and the Ark Animal Sanctuary.

The CD costs $10 and is available for purchase at Chadwick’s Florist, Visions, Hollywood Pet Salon, Houlton Humane Society, HRH Gift Shop in Houlton and the Briar Patch Gift Shop in Island Falls.
In late 2011, Kindred Harps released their first album, entitled “Butterfly Dreams”. It was dedicated to the memory of Logan Sweet, grandson of harper Dale Holden. Logan passed away in 2008 from juvenile viral myocarditis. Profits from the sale of that album went to benefit the Logan Sweet Foundation, which funds viral myocarditis research. The Logan Sweet Foundation was established by his parents, Jon and Carolyn Sweet.
