Anderson’s work to be featured at Visions Blue Moon Gallery

Carolyn Anderson will be displaying her series entitled “As Time Goes By” at Visions Blue Moon Gallery from Dec. 7 to Jan. 26 with a reception on Dec. 14 from 5-7 p.m. The series consists of black and white photographs representing life and the aging process through the imagery of an old deteriorating abandoned home.
“I have always loved to photograph old things like buildings, trees and vehicles,” Anderson said. “Abandoned things have the character that new things do not. Looking at an old deteriorating house reminds me of the old and the dying for they are so much like us.  When we are young we are vibrant, we are full of life, as we age the body breaks down and in some cases we are abandoned…just like a house.”
Anderson is a graduate of the Houlton High School and plans to graduate from UMPI in the spring with two Bachelor Degrees, one in Fine Arts for Photography, the other in Art Education. She is currently completing her student teaching placement.
Anderson enjoys painting as well, taking part in this year’s Paint Presque Isle event over the summer.  Her paintings and photographs have been in numerous art exhibitions throughout Maine.  Her artwork can be seen online at artbycarolynanderson.blogspot.com.
Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project (SACAP), a non-profit, volunteer organization was founded in 1999.  Our mission is to foster a flourishing arts community in northern Maine, creating an exciting cultural environment and a voice for art and artists.
