On Nov. 10, Troop and Pack 171 of Presque Isle held their annual Scouting for Food. Scouts and Cub Scouts had gone the week before and distributed bags around Presque Isle. Residents were encouraged to fill the bags with non-perishable food items and to leave the bags on their porch for the boys to pick up.  The Scouts collected over 1,400 items which were donated to GIFT-Interfaith Food Pantry for distribution to families in need. GIFT is a non-profit partnership working to meet hunger needs in Presque Isle, Mapleton and Chapman. In top photo, sorting through the food are, from left, Gage Young, Jodi Young, Dave Berry, Carol Guerrette and Katahdin Council District Executive Jon Seiler. At bottom, some of the Boy Scouts participating in the food drive were, from left, Trace Cyr, Chris Stepp, James Churchill and David Cyr.
