LIMESTONE — A holly, jolly Limestone tradition kicks off this weekend to welcome in the most wonderful time of the year, and slay bells will certainly be ringing during the annual Holiday Light Parade on Saturday, Nov. 24 which will be a winter wonderland with or without snow as Santa Claus is coming to town.
Why all the bad holiday song puns ?
Because caroling starts at 5:30 p.m. in front of the old American Legion building.
St. Nicholas himself will be there to light the trees and partake in some pre-parade hot chocolate with all the good little boys and girls of the greater Limestone community.
The theme of this year’s light parade is “Santa’s Workshop,” and parade entries are encouraged to use all the lights, tinsel, garland and goodies they can muster to spread the holiday cheer.
Parade participants themselves are encouraged to dress up for the occasion — but no extra Santas please.
Parade organizers have cautioned that they have already arranged for St. Nick to take the slay drive down from the North Pole, and anyone imitating the Jolly Old Elf will be disqualified from parade competition.
Line-up for the parade begins at 5:15 at the Limestone Community School, with judging slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
While it’s fun to wave to Santa as he rides through the parade, youths can hop on the Snow Express to be bused back to the Limestone Recreation Center, where they can have their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
For additional information about entering the parade, contact the Limestone Town Office at 325-4704 or Al-Bears Restaurant at 325-2114.
