CARIBOU — Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou was recognized for its commitment to excellence in long-term care by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living during an awards dinner held in Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 10. The National Quality Award Program honors facilities across the nation that demonstrated their commitment to quality improvement, and MVH Caribou is one of four facilities in Maine to receive the honor this year.

“It is a great honor to be recognized on a national level, because our staff does so many wonderful things for our veterans,” said Melissa Graham, MVH Caribou administrator. “This award is directly attributed to the entire staff at the home for their hard work and dedication to providing excellent quality care to each and every one of our residents.”

The award was presented as part of the AHCA/NCAL’s sixty-third annual convention.

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The program assists providers of long-term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.
