WILTON & MAPLETON – Clarence H. Savoy of Wilton, ME and formerly of Mapleton, died at the age of 80 on November 7, 2012. At the time of his death, Clarence was being cared for at the Hospice House in Auburn and was surrounded by family. Clarence was born on October 5, 1932, in St. Francis, ME, the son of Leon & Annette (Dubay). He was the oldest of 12 children and from early on was expected to be responsible and hard-working – values he carried with him throughout his life.
Clarence served in the US Army from 1953-1957 during which time he completed two tours in Germany. He had fond memories of his time in service and was proud to be a Veteran.
On January 8, 1955, he married Joyce M. McEachern in Mapleton. In 1988, Clarence and Joyce moved to Farmington, to be closer to their adult children.
Clarence enjoyed fishing, telling stories, playing cards, arguing and spending time with his children.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Joyce of 57 years; daughter, Janet and husband, Kevin McIntosh; son, Ricky and wife, Marcia and daughter, Sherry and husband, Russell Carson. He is also survived by brothers: Elden, Maynard, Murray, Marshall and Larry; and sisters: Diane Prescott, Sharon (Sally) Markey, Marcia Dotson and Barbara Theriault. He leaves behind eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by sisters, Fern and Burnadine; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law.
