Daughters of Isabella discuss Christmas Party plans

CARIBOU — The Daughters of Isabella held their Nov. 4 at the parish center.

A 50/50 raffle in the amount of $13.50 was won by Elizabeth Beaulieu who in turn gave it back to the Circle. “Happy Birthday” was sung for the November birthdays. Debbie Chabre was the recipient of a small gift and Debbie gave it to Eleanor Gagnon.

Regent Gail Hjort called the meeting to order. Acting Chancellor Dolores D. Martin led in the opening prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call of officers showed seven absent. Communications received was a thank-you note from member Chelsea McEwen for the baby gift.

Our circle gave away five layettes in October to the local hospital. Pampers, milk bottles, undershirts and receiving blankets are needed to replenish the layettes. It was mentioned that at our Christmas party, members could bring these items.

Cards were signed by members  and will be sent to Lena Dyer, Annette Harmon and Doris Martin. A thank-you card will be sent to Joseph Martin for fixing the banner and crown.

Chairwoman Mary Ellen Fields reported on the 40-week club for the months of September and October. There were no winners from our circle.

There will be a wreath-making event for the children of the Faith Formation Program on Saturday, Nov. 17 and the calling committee will contact members to bring refreshments for this occasion.

A beautiful baby afghan was donated for the layette by Jeanine Belanger and a beautiful prayer shawl was donated by Debbie Chabre.

Our annual Christmas party will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. with a catered meal by Cindy’s Sub Shop. The calling committee will contact the members. They are asked if they want a gift for exchange to bring one, also if they want to donate a canned good for the pantry and an item for the layettes they can bring them.

A farewell reception for Bishop Malone will be held the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 9 for prayers and benediction. Members will be contacted to bring refreshments for this occasion.

Member Dolores Martin reported on the fundraiser: discount cards are available for sale at $10 each and she asked members to take some and sell for our charities, especially the fuel fund for our parish. Cards will be sold after the masses on Sunday, Nov. 9 and 16.

Closing prayer and ode, Regent Gail asked members to sign the activity and attendance sheet. She thanked the refreshment committee for this evening; Dolores D. Martin, Doris Albert, Joan Bishop and Mirielle Damboise.

Next month’s committee for the Christmas party is Chairwoman Debbie Chabre, Madeline Guerrette, Kristina McEwen, Julie Goodall and Sharon Ellis.
