Race proceeds aid charity
PRESQUE ISLE — The Oct. 21 Crow’s Nest Octoberfest 5K Walk and 10K Run, which served as a benefit for the Aroostook County branch of the American Red Cross – Pine Tree Chapter, proved to be a great success, according to organizers.

Maine’s First Lady, Ann LePage, was among the 110 participants in the event. More than 60 chose the walking option, while 49 finished the running event.
Curtis Wheeler and Marie Beckum were the overall winners. Wheeler came in at 34 minutes and 14 seconds, while Beckum’s time was 43:43.
The overall top 10 consisted of Wheeler, Thomas Beckum (39:17), Leo Kashian (42:32), Trevor Levesque (43:10), Thomas Wire (43:22), Beckum, Susan Plissey (44:14), Nicole Green (44:44), Jason Bartley (44:52) and Kimberly Wright (45:23).
ON THE MOVE FOR A GREAT CAUSE — More than 60 walkers participated in the Crow’s Nest Octoberfest 5K Walk, held Oct. 21. Funds raised from the event, which also included a 10K run, went toward the Aroostook County Chapter of the American Red Cross – Pine Tree Chapter.
