HOULTON — Insurance Association of Greater Houlton is conducting a clothing drive to benefit Catholic Charities of Maine. Catholic Charities, based in Caribou services 25 food pantries from St. Francis to Wytopitlock, including the Houlton area.
The group is collecting clothing, shoes, purses and belts. The items collected are taken to Monticello where it is prepared to be shipped to foreign countries. The proceeds are then used to purchase food for the food bank.
Last year, the group collected over 9,000 pounds of clothing, over 300 pairs of shoes and 200 purses. Donations can be dropped at the F.A. Peabody office located at 29 North St. in Houlton. For more information please contact Mary Jane Cleary at 521-5705.
