Youth ski rental program

The Northern Skiers Club and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to bring the Youth Ski Rental Program back to Caribou for all Caribou youth. This year, seasonal rentals will be available for all Caribou youth and include skis, boots, poles and a carrier for a fee.

The two package options are: Option 1: $50 per package with a Northern Skier Club membership or Option 2: $60 per package non-member. Both options required an additional  $15 security deposit which will be refunded upon return in good condition.

Rental forms will be distributed this month, with the official sign up and fitting night slated for Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center.

T.I.O.S.S. Senior and Adult Series

Outings and seminars to help adults and seniors fall into shape and keep mentally sharp are offered through the recreation department. Some of the programs scheduled for this month are: Nov. 8, Indoor Container Gardening; Nov. 13, Bird House and Feed Building workshop; Nov. 15, Basic Emergency Care; Nov. 20, Common Foods for Common Aliments.

Grades 3-4 basketball

Third- and fourth-grade basketball meets Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3-4:30 p.m. from Nov. 8 through Dec. 21. Pre-registration is required.

Grades 1-2 basketball

Grade 1 and 2 basketball is being offered for a second session Nov. 26-Dec. 19 and meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Center hours

The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon-4 p.m. The facility is closed Sundays. Area residents are welcome to come and utilize our walking track.

Men’s 30-and-over basketball

The men’s 30-and-over basketball is under way and meets Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon. This program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and over and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. There is a $3 per player fee on Sundays.

Gingerbread house decorating

Youths, come and decorate your own Gingerbread House on Friday, December 7 from 6-8 pm at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required and limited to 200 youths. This event is sponsored by Sleepers Grocery.

Pokemon, Yugioh and Magic Game Club

A game club meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on upcoming Fridays from 3:15-5 p.m.: Nov. 16 and 30, Dec. 14, Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Area youths are welcome to attend. Some cards are available for sale in game decks.
