Caribou — Anne Newell, 96, died October 30, 2012, at Presque Isle. She was born May 21, 1916, in North Barre, Vermont, the daughter of the late John and Eliza MacAuley. Mrs. Newell was a long-time member of the Caribou Unitarian Universalist Church and was a nurse at the former Loring Air Force Base for a number of years. She is survived by her children, Judith Solman and her husband, Bob of North Yarmouth, Larry Newell and his wife, Lena and Elizabeth Maifield all of Caribou; her grandchildren; Scott Solman and his wife, Kristi, Jeff Solman, Doug Solman, Chris Maifield, Jason Maifield and Brian Newell; five great-grandchildren, Nikki, Katie, Eliza, Ashley and Jordan Solman.
A celebration of Mrs. Newell’s life will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012, from the Caribou Unitarian Universalist Church with Rev. Maury Landry officiating. The time of the service will be announced in a future edition of the Aroostook Republican by the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou.
