The third annual “Share the Warmth” event was held at Southern Aroostook Community School on Oct. 20 in the school’s multipurpose room. It was estimated that about 75 people attended the clothing drive between Saturday and Sunday.
When doors opened on Saturday, 20 people were waiting at the door. A majority of the clothing was given away, but the remainder of the clothing is being donated to Catholic Charities in Presque Isle. It was a great success and all of the help was greatly appreciated.
Many students and community members gave their time in order to help out with the drive. Four classes helped set up Friday afternoon, along with a few parent volunteers and students on Friday night. On Saturday and Sunday even more students and parents came out to give their time.
The school would like to give a special thank you to Oakfield residents, Debbie Bouchard and Janice Cottle; Island Falls residents, Shelley Chavonelle, Ruth Frazier and Mr. and Mrs. Strout; Smyrna resident, Sonja London; and Crystal resident, Tammy Hartin for all their help.
Also thanks to the student volunteers; Logan Buckley, Chris Strout, Jenica Frazier, Kristen Tarr, Katie Small, Shay Lillis, Aimee Cottle, Vanessa Charette, Cody Lassonde, Mason Caron, Ria Kinney, Dakota Mullen, Bre Daggett, Kacy Daggett, Makaelyn Porter, Kylie Vining, MJ Charette, Mataya Hartin, Beth Bishop, Taylor D. Bishop, Ashley Crandall, Taylor Desmond and Joe Marley.
