PRESQUE ISLE — Due to the projected path of Super Storm Sandy, all PenAir flights between Boston and Presque Isle were cancelled Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30.

In addition, officials at Portland International Jetport advised passengers scheduled to fly on Tuesday to check with their airline for an updated flight status. Departing flights to Baltimore, New York City, Newark, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, D.C. and other cities affected by Sandy were canceled, while scheduled flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago and Detroit were expected to depart on schedule, beginning at 11:25 a.m. from the Portland airport.

PenAir was working with customers to reschedule flights or provide a refund.

“PenAir will offer customers the convenience to change and/or refund reservations. All passengers making a change to reservations Oct. 29 and 30 will be changed at no charge. Passengers wanting to cancel their entire reservations for travel on Oct. 29 through Oct. 31 (PenAir portion only) may also do so at no charge,” said Melissa Anderson, vice president, PenAir sales and marketing.

Anderson said the airline intends to resume full operations beginning Wednesday, Oct. 31.

“PenAir encourages all passengers to monitor penair.com for weather alert updates. Passengers may also contact central reservations at 800-448-4226,” Anderson said.

Anderson said PenAir officials wished to thank all customers for their support and understanding during this extraordinary weather event.
