Children from Caribou Public Library’s Story Time group were given a coupon for a free piece of fruit at Paradis Shop’n Save in Caribou in honor of Food Day on Oct. 24. From left, Children’s Librarian Jean Shaw helped Story Time children Brock Gagnon, Ella Bennett, James Bennett, Ava Bennett, Jane Towle, Spencer Freeman and Lillian Freeman pick out their fruit selection with Dana Corbin, Shop’n Save manager.
The Story Time children at the library listened to a story about nutrition called “I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato” by Lauren Child. Jean Shaw, the children’s librarian, had the children identify 12 different fruits and vegetables. They were each given a ticket to go to Paradis Shop’n Save in Caribou and pick out a free piece of fruit.
“I thought it was a great idea,” commented Paradis manager Dana Corbin about being approached by Shaw to provide the children with an item for Food Day. “I was happy to do it.”
The little readers all left the store with a fruit selection ranging from bananas to oranges to plums.
