BUTLER, Kenneth A., 87, of Limestone and Caribou, on October 23, 2012. There will be no public services. Arrangements are in the care of the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
LIMESTONE & CARIBOU – Kenneth A. Butler, 87, husband of Rita E. (Davenport) Butler, passed away Tuesday morning, October 23, 2012, at a Caribou healthcare facility after an extended illness. He was born February 11, 1925, in Limestone, the son of Kenneth B. and Iva (Levesque) Butler.
He was educated in Limestone and served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of corporal. Kenneth was also a life member of the V.F.W. Lister-Knowlton Post Number 9389, Caribou.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by one daughter, Theresa Butler; one step-son, Ricky McEwen; one brother, Arthur L. Butler; three sisters, Sara Harvey, Edna Fortus and Helen Ieva.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Rita E. Butler of Caribou; one step-son, Larry McEwen of Wallingford, CT; three step-daughters, Gail Davis and Bridget LaPointe and her husband, Hollis, all of Bennington, Vermont, Cheryl Paradis and her husband, Daniel of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey; two brothers, Otis “Buster” Butler and his wife, Theresa of Plainville, CT, George Butler of Frenchville; one sister, Barbara Hamlin of Las Vegas, NV; thirteen step-grandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Kenneth’s wishes, there will be no public services. Interment with full military honors took place at the Northern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Butler to C.A.N.C.E.R., P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
