KINNEY, Harold A. “Hal”, 91, EASTON, at Presque Isle, October 26, 2012. Interment will take place at a later date at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton. Arrangements in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

    EASTON – Harold A. “Hal” Kinney, 91, died October 26, 2012, in the presence of his family at the Presque Isle Nursing Home. The son of Alfred B. and Ella (Ladner) Kinney, Harold was born in Easton on January 11, 1921, and was the fourth of seven children.
    Harold married Kathryn Jane Towle on November 22, 1951, at the Pine Tree Church in Easton and settled in Easton where they raised five children. Harold was known for his good nature, personal integrity, devotion to his wife and family, and contributions to the community. Harold graduated Easton High School Class of 1938 and went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono, where he majored in Agronomy and was a member of Phi Eta Kappa. Harold left college early due to his father’s illness and returned to Easton to take over the family farm. He would go on to farm for 49 more years until his retirement in 1990. Harold was the third generation to operate the family farm. He was active in service to the Town of Easton, serving on the School Board, the Planning Board, the Board of Selectman, the Town Budget Committee, and the Easton Housing Development Board. He was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine, a fifty-year member of the Masons – Trinity Lodge Number 130, AF & AM, Presque Isle, member and past President of the Easton Lions Club and a member of the Board of Directors of the Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital.
    Harold is survived by his children, Lorraine Adams of Newport News, Virginia, Van Kinney of Chantilly, Virginia, Jane Kinney of Kennebunk, Maine, Sara Dennis and her husband, Casey of Hanover, New Hampshire; his sister, Verna Cullins of Presque Isle; his sisters-in-law, Clara Towle Hussey of Mars Hill and Olivia Moreau Kinney of Fort Myers, Florida; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
    Harold was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn; his son, R. Andrew Kinney; his grandson Lance Corporal Joshua Kinney; his siblings, Ralph, Doris, Vaughn, Inez and Wendell.
    Friends called Sunday, October 28, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a Masonic Memorial Service was conducted at 1:45 p.m.. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Otto Palmer officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton.
