Willette voting record tells story
To the editor:
Michael Willette displayed a flagrant lack of integrity by changing his party affiliation immediately after re-election by the citizens of Presque Isle. His 2011-12 voting records further demonstrate his disregard for his responsibility to represent the voters of Presque Isle.
A Google search of Maine’s legislative scorecards reveals the following:
• Maine Conservation Voters (“a non-partisan organization with a mission to ensure that the protection of our water, air, forests, wildlife, landscapes and natural heritage is a political priority in Maine.”) reports that Willette had a 9 percent score with only one pro-environment vote in 2011-12.
• The Public Education Scorecard gave Willette a 14 percent score (and the Maine Education Association has endorsed Bob Saucier for District 5).
• The Maine State Employees Association gave Willette a 0 percent score because he consistently voted for legislation harming Maine workers.
• The Working Families Legislative Scorecard gave Willette a score of 12 percent because of the predominance of his anti-worker votes.
Voting for Bob Saucier will give us a legislator who respects the voters of House District 5 and who will truly represent us by protecting our environment and the jobs we value.
