The 2012 Maine Landowner/Landuser yearly award banquet, included the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries Wildlife, the Maine Snowmobile Association and the Landowners/Sportsmen Relations Advisory Board, held their banquet in Augusta on Oct. 16.
Out of 10 awards , four of those were presented in the County, with one being to the Molunkus Valley Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club.
The Sno-Drifters were presented a 1986 Maine migratory waterfowl stamp design picture with a plaque for “Outstanding Landuser” group award.
According to Sno-Drifters’ president, Deb Long, “The club was honored to receive the award” and sends out congratulations to the other organizations who also were presented with awards.
“As we say, respect our landowners for without them,  there would be less outdoor activities,” added Long.
Those in attendance at the Maine Landowner/Landuser award banquet included: Maine Warden Steve Allarie, landowner relations coordinator; Mark Lattie, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, guest speaker; Long, club president, and her husband, Rick, Sno-Drifters club trail master; Bill Bishevsky, Sno-Drifters member and director GPS/Mapping; Sylvia Bridgham, guest; Dan Bridgham, Sno-Drifters member; Sandra Qualey, Sno-Drifters member and Paul Qualey, Sno-Drifters director.
Long also invites anyone who is looking for a family-oriented snowmobile club to check out the Molunkus Valley Sno-Drifters. They meet the first Saturday of each month on 58 North St., Sherman, at their clubhouse.
The Sno-Drifters traditionally hold a pot luck supper at 5 p.m., with a regular meeting following at 6 p.m.
