Last week was a bit heartbreaking for the Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors who missed the playoffs by one spot.
The Lady Warriors finished in 12th position in Class D with a 5-9 record. The Lady Warriors trailed Van Buren in the tournament point index, with the Crusaders finishing with 23.2143 points, while Southern Aroostook had 22.8284 points.
“The girls really worked hard and played as a team,” said coach Kaylea Collier. “We had been working a lot on making effective passes and having good communication on the field and that is what helped us improve and win games at the end of the season.”
According to Collier, the Southern Aroostook girls had an “up and down” season, in the win/loss column.
“We ended the season with a couple of good wins against East Grand and Woodland that helped move us up in the Heal points,” she added.
The Lady Warriors will be losing five seniors, who Collier said, “really stepped up as leaders on the team. They will be missed, but we will continue to grow as a team with lots of juniors and senior leadership for next year.”
