Final meeting of a special group

To the editor:
    Ten years ago, a group of concerned citizens formed a task force to seek out a place for a monthly meal for children and adults. Finally in January 2002 the first meal was served at the Houlton Recreation Center under the “Umbrella of Care.”
    After much discussion by all concerned providers, it has been decided that the last meal of the “Umbrella of Care” at the rec center will be served on the last Sunday of October 2012.
    There are so many people to thank for all the support over the past decade that I can not begin to name them all without leaving someone out. So I shall say “thank you” to all who cooked and served the meals, the rec center staff, and most of all a special “thank you” to all who came for the food and fellowship.
