Candidate debate planned
MAPLETON — There will be a debate between candidates for House District 7 and Senate District 35 at the Mapleton Fire Station in the coming week.
Details will be forthcoming as to the date and time, but Republican incumbent Alexander Willette, Democratic challenger Troy Haines, termed Republican Representative Peter Edgecomb and Democratic Senator Troy Jackson have all agreed to meet to debate the issues.
District 7 includes the towns of: Castle Hill, Chapman, Hammond, Littleton, Mapleton, Masardis, Monticello, part of Presque Isle, Wade, Washburn and Oxbow Plantation, plus the unorganized territory of Central Aroostook (including E Township). District 35 includes: Allagash, St. Francis, St. John Plt., Wallagrass, Fort Kent, New Canada, Frenchville, St. Agatha, Madawaska, Grand Isle, Van Buren, Eagle Lake, Winterville Plt., Square Lake, Stockholm, Cyr Plt., Hamlin, Connor Township, Caswell, Limestone, Caribou, Westmanland, New Sweden, Woodland, Perham, Wade, Washburn, Castle Hill, Mapleton, Portage, Nashville Plt., Garfield Plt.
