BANGOR — For the fourth time in recent years, Bangor Savings Bank has been named as one of the top five companies for 2012’s Best Places to Work in Maine by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Maine Chapter. The Bank has made the top five every time it has participated.
The Best Companies Group aims to recognize companies that have established and fostered an outstanding workplace environment through this assessment process. The group evaluates employee policies and procedures along with responses from the company’s employees.
Jim Conlon, president and CEO of Bangor Savings Bank, commented on this news. “We are extremely proud to be recognized once again as an employer of choice to our more than 700 employees and to be the highest-ranked Maine-based large company in this year’s study. The spirit of Bangor Savings Bank’s culture shows in our employees’ loyalty, both to our company and to serving our 100,000-plus customers. Every individual associated with our Bank knows we are sincere about our brand – “You Matter More.”
“At Bangor Savings Bank, we continually seek to create an environment that encourages many qualities – initiative and commitment, integrity, empowerment, open communications, and responsiveness to changing conditions. We believe these attributes are essential to retaining and attracting employees,” said Conlon. “We are pleased that even during this recession, we have been able to retain and reward our Maine workforce, provide good compensation and benefits, and continue to invest heavily in employee training and tuition reimbursement.”
