Gerald is a very big boy residing at Halfway Home Pet Rescue. He is about 3 years old and volunteers say that he has the face of a wise-old Grampy and the personality of a loving angel. Gerald is neutered, medically tested and received parasite prevention treatments. He has extra toes on all four feet and volunteers emphasized that he is a very big, clean and lovable boy. “He is happy to mind his own business and he really wants a home,” explained HHPR President Norma Milton. Gerald’s adoption fee is $25 during the month of October. Volunteers with the HHPR are recycling products to help pay their own way in the community of Caribou. “We collect nicely used shoes and sneakers; used inkjet and laser cartridges, used cell phones, and returnable bottles and cans,” Milton explained. “These item can be dropped off at 11 Pioneer Ave., or 489 Main St., in Caribou.” The cartridges should be placed in a plastic sandwich bag to prevent damage or ink spills. Volunteers with HHPR also plans to participate in Caribou’s annual Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28, and Milton expressed that the pet rescue really needs volunteers to bake cookies, fudge, squares, bread and rolls for HHPR to sell as well as some baked beans. Items for the craft fair can be dropped off at 11 Pioneer Ave. in Caribou anytime during the day on Friday, Oct. 26. The HHPR is a 501c3 non-profit and a 2012 Maine state licensed pet rescue. Their mailing address is PO Box 488, Caribou, Maine 04736 and their web site is www.halfwayhomepetrescue.org. They also can be viewed through Facebook.
