The Willettes are in the House
To the editor:
How fortunate is Presque Isle to have the first and only father/son team of Mike and Alex Willette representing in Augusta! The two serve on prominent committees that have helped to improve our roads and bridges, as well as to ensure our veterans receive the respect and gratitude they so deserve.
As a freshman lawmaker, Alex has already made a lasting impact while serving in Augusta. If you’ve traveled I-95, I’m sure you’ve noticed your trip is a bit quicker now thanks to the new 75 mph speed limit. Alex sponsored the bill that made this a reality. Resultantly, goods and services can be brought to market faster, which assuredly has a positive impact on our local economy.
Mike, a seasoned representative now at the Statehouse, is a respected member of the Legislature. He worked to implement a community paramedicine program to reduce Maine Care costs and assist in early recognition of urgent medical conditions. A former EMT and Army combat medic during Desert Storm, Mike was able to gain the support of his colleagues for the associated legislation. Accordingly, patients will benefit from being treated in the comfort of their home, thus eliminating needless travel. In Mike’s first term, he got a bill passed that makes Maine one of the first states to allow secure electric online absentee voting for our Maine soldiers deployed overseas. Mike’s work on this issue assures that those who fight for our freedoms have their votes counted.
Mike and Alex Willette continue to work hard for their constituents, and they certainly deserve our backing on Nov. 6!
