To the Editor:
To the “Concerned Citizens of Limestone,” who are so desperate to support the current board of selectpeople: none of you had the integrity or honesty to even attach your name(s) to the mass mailing. Apparently some of the comments you, “the Concerned Citizens,” made about the chief of police were done during an executive session that “should not” have been disclosed to the public. The only way that you, “the Concerned Citizens of Limestone,” would have been informed of this information was from the information provided by a current board member who was in the executive session that evening. Now this information should be turned over to the Attorney General’s Office. I personally feel they should be investigating this disgraceful board and not the “recall petition” that one of the selectpeople requested.
And just how much did this cost the taxpayers?
This is the wisdom that we, the citizens of Limestone, had hoped for? I think our luck has run out. How much is this little mistake going to cost the taxpayers of Limestone?
Really, this is the best that you can do?
From where I am sitting, this only leads me and many others to believe that the letter submitted by “we the Citizens of Limestone” is from the remaining Board of Selectpeople’s sympathizers or relatives to have sent out these lies and misleading garbage.
So who paid for this mass mailing and are the board members in debt to you now? Apparently you have failed to mention the fact that 180 registered voters have lost total confidence in the remaining board members to lead our community.
You have to ask yourselves, just how much of our taxpayers dollars are currently being spent on attorney fees that the board has approved without the taxpayer’s knowledge … not to mention their request to delay the recall vote “temporarily?”
So who is looking out for our tax dollars?
We are approximately $2,000 in the hole for attorney fees because of our great experienced leaders. They apparently do not care how much they spend to defend their actions. But remember, they brought all of this on themselves and they can blame themselves for their selfish actions.
These are men of experience and knowledge, but they have not shown any as of yet. Not one of them has shown any of this since they were elected selectpeople.
Citizens of Limestone, you have to ask yourselves, are you satisfied with the current board of selectpeople and the way the town is headed? At the last board meeting, these so-called men of experience and knowledge could not even remember to mention the fact that the ground breaking for Limestone’s new nursing home had occurred? That shows you just how much they are concerned with the current events within our town.
The loss of confidence with the current board is a fact. This has been proven with the 180 registered voters that signed the recall petition to have you, the selectpeople, terminated.
Gentlemen, do not hide behind a minor technicality.
We are circulating the recall petition, again. You are an embarrassment to our community. No wonder businesses and people do not want to move here in Limestone. Our current board is so preoccupied with personal agendas and vendettas, they do not care about the 95 percent of Limestone taxpayers. They cater only to the five percent that tell them how the town should be run.
Citizens of Limestone, just look around at what we have and ask yourselves, who would want to open or even start a new business in Limestone. We have more people leaving Limestone than those moving here. One day we have a police department and the next day we do not. Then the following meeting, we have a fire department and the next day we don’t. What is next? Is the library the next item on the agenda? How about the recreation department? Is there a future for it? And now the highway department. If I was a town employee, I would keep my eyes open. The town office is a day-by-day operation. Sounds like to me if certain people have a problem with a specific department or person in that department, they can just fire them and deal with the results later.
Now, for the Limestone residents that have received or even read the “Concerned Citizens” letter, it states we are now going to bid out our department head positions. Limestone is going to be the very first community in the state of Maine to bid out department head positions. Explain to our taxpayers how that is going to work. Lowest bidder, less qualified?
Talk about opening up a huge can of worms.
Apparently this is the direction that our current board is going to take us. Unreal. If I wouldn’t have read it for myself, I would not have believed it.
These are the board members that we want to lead our town into the future? I think not. It is evident to me that 180 registered voters agree with us.
We have selectpeople who are at the town office every morning giving our town manager her daily “orders,” following the police to see where they are, telling the citizens of Limestone that they are going to get rid of the fire chief, and making statements to our citizens that they are going to personally sue each and every person that signs their recall petition. Voter intimidation by elected officials has been clearly displayed in this case.
We the taxpayers and citizens of the town of Limestone deserve so much more from our elected officials.
We have a very nice community and we should be very proud of Limestone. We need a major change and if we do not make these changes, we only have ourselves to blame.
I will attach my name to this plea for a change, unlike the “Concerned Citizens” and selectpeople; you have no honor or integrity. You have a personal agenda for yourselves not the taxpayers. Your selfish actions have put the Town of Limestone back 10 years. You all should be proud and now you need to be removed.
I have a new grandson that I am trying to build a future around and will not let anyone destroy it. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I am a very proud citizen and taxpayer of Limestone.
