American Flag ColorBelleview, Fl and Caribou —  Edward Albert Michaud, 69, went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2012, surrounded by his immediate family. Edward was born August 9, 1943, in Presque Isle, the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Bear) Michaud. Edward lived with his foster family, John and Albertha Cyr most of his entire youth in Caribou. Edward attended and graduated Caribou High School in 1963. He immediately joined the U. S. Army, serving in Germany from 1963 – 1966. He married Jean (Olmstead) Michaud in February 1968. Edward was employed by the U. S. Postal Service in Bridgeport, CT and Ocala, FL for 42 years. Edward is a member of the Houlton, Maine Band of Maliseet Indians. After his retirement he could be found on the golf course. Edward was a loving husband and father. He and his wife served as foster parents in Ocala, FL for 30 years, giving a loving and stable home to many children. Edward was very active at Memorial Baptist Church with the Children’s Bus Ministry and also in the church choir.

Edward is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Edward M. from Waxhaw, NC, Kristofer D. from Chesapeake, VA, David from NH, Michael and Derik from Caribou, and Todd from Ocala, FL; daughters, Joy and Brandi Michaud of Ocala, FL. He was the proud grandfather of Molly, Jack, Taylor, Lauren, Chloe and Cayden Michaud and Emily Golding. He is predeceased by a daughter, Angel Dawn Michaud; two grandsons, Clay and Lane Golding, and a brother, John Michaud of Presque Isle. Also surviving is a brother, William Michaud from Ashland; sisters, Edith Essex, Hawthorne, FL, Regina St. Amant, Brooksville, VA, Alice Pomfret, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Irene Wambaugh, Michigan, Margaret Reiger, Gainesville, FL and Joan Zimmerly, Daytona Beach, FL.

Funeral services were held at the Memorial Baptist Church Ocala, FL , on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Michael West officiating. In lieu of flowers, Edward’s wishes are for donations to be given to Memorial Baptist Church in his memory. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou with Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Local arrangements by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
