“Ben’s Revenge Scramble” was very close with Ben himself (imagine that!) on the winning team with Joe Clukey and Tim Prescott, who had a four-under 68. Only one stroke back was the team of Greg Douglas, Steve Edwards and Pete Lawlor. One more stroke back was the team of Byron/Anderson; and one behind them was the team of Francis Cyr, Steve Merry and Warren Walker. Finishing first net was the team of Brandon McCarthy, Jill McCarthy and Jessica Walker.
Some comments were, “unreal”… “what was Ben thinking!?”… “you’ve got to be kidding!”… “WHAT!”… to name a few.
The men have changed their Men’s Night to Thursday at 4:30 p.m. instead of Tuesday. There was a good turn out for ladies golf on Tuesday morning. They enjoyed a four-person scramble. In first place with a 39 was the team of Carol Blood, Sally Cyr, Patti Hartin and Betty Smallwood.
The men and ladies will continue to play as long as good weather continues, and longer if they could!
In Sunday afternoon couples golf, finishing first was the team of Jenness Gushee, Ola Tucker, Greg Gayne and Val Powers. Next was Jon Smallwood, Ted Pettengill, Sally Cyr and Carol Blood, followed in third by the team of Francis Cyr, Ralph Powers, Betty Smallwood and Goldie Gushee.
The play was a best ball scramble, with the men on the team having to change lady partners every other hole. The two scores were added together after nine holes. If it sounds kind of complicated, I think it was! The couples continue to play each Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. … plan on joining the good times while they still can be had.
On Columbus Day weekend (October 6-8) we’ll hold one more very popular Red/White/Blue scramble. There will be four-person teams, with skins and pins extra. The entry is $10/player with mixed teams allowed, but the ladies must play the same tees as the guys. There will be winners for gross, net, youngest team (under total age of 60), oldest team (with at least 275 years total age) and longest drive on number 17. As before, you may play anytime during the three-day weekend; and you may play as many times as you wish, either on the same team or different teams (entry due each time you play). We’re looking for about 100 golfers this time, so invite others from other courses and spread the word.
The rates have been posted for the 2013 season, with most staying the same and some lowered. A discount is available for those who are willing to pre-pay, which would be greatly appreciated this year. If you have any questions, please check with the pro-shop or call the course at 463-2128.
