Houlton runners took on a new challenge this fall, as they competed as a relay team in the Reach The Beach (RTB) Relay.
This race is recognized by athletes as the premier relay series in the United States.
The 13th annual RTB Relay started at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, N.H. on Sept. 14.
The relay consisted of (a maximum of) 12-person teams that rotated through 36 transition areas, as they covered approximately a 204-mile distance of the race.
The race finished on the beach at Hampton Beach State Park on Sept. 15.
The Houlton team, Spider Pigs, finished 119th in their category with a time of 29:53:26.
