The ‘Red Zone’ or maybe ‘Seeing Red’ is on Saturday, Sept. 22. It is a ‘Red Tee Box’ scramble, so get your team together and see how low you can go! Entry fee is just $5 per player, four-person teams, with gross and net prizes overall, along with prizes for low gross women’s team (the ladies will have special tee boxes to shorten the course for them, too) and low gross student team. There are no mixed teams for this tourney, so get your guys or gals team together. This tournament is sort of like playing a par 3 course, so this is a little something out of the norm as we play a “different course” for a Saturday. We’ll do a shot gun start at 9 a.m.
In the Tuesday morning ladies day, the play of the day was a four-person scramble. The winners were Carol Blood, Terry Pettengill, Patti Hartin and Connie Hollis. They had a great lunch on Connie’s deck. The ladies continue on Tuesdays at 10 a.m., as long as the weather permits.
The men have changed their Men’s Night to Thursday at 4:30 p.m. instead of Tuesday, as the restaurant is now closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The guys play a scramble for those who can make it … and please come, as the “unplayable conditions” of November through April last a long, long time.
In looking over the results of the red/white/blue scramble, some additional observations are interesting to note: Hole number two was the only one with no pars, but it did have a double eagle, six eagles and the rest birdies; the four par threes were the toughest to birdie, as there were only seven all weekend, with number 11 getting none; the only holes to have more than one bogey were 4, 12 and 14; 11 holes had no bogies; number 3 had the most birds for a par four with 10, number 15 had nine, and surprisingly, number nine was next with seven birds.
I know folks are already planning their team(s) for the next red/white/blue scramble coming on Columbus Day weekend (October 6-8). Remember, you can play at any time, and on any of the three days, and on as many teams as you wish … just plan to have a really good time!
