T.I.O.S.S. Senior and Adult series
Outings and seminars to help adults and seniors fall into shape and keep mentally sharp are offered through the recreation department.
A guided day trip to explore trains on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway will take place Saturday, Sept. 29. Participants will have the opportunity to travel to the waterway, hike into the trains and explore the artifacts of the logging era in the area around Chamberlain and Eagle lakes. The trip will leave the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and return by 6 p.m. Those signing up will need to bring a bag lunch with them. A fee of $25 is due by Friday, Sept. 14. The trip is for individuals between the ages of 18 and 55 who are in excellent shape. In the event of rain, the trip will take place Sunday, Sept. 30.
Coming up next month is a trip to King’s Landing Oct. 4 (registration deadline Sept. 14). Also planned in October is a horse-drawn wagon ride and tour of the SAD 1 School Farm in Presque Isle Oct. 9, a guided day trip through Baxter State Park Oct. 11, a sightseeing trip to remote wilderness sporting camps on Munsungan Lake Oct. 16, a sightseeing tour to Shakaree Red Deer Farm and the Smyrna Amish Village Oct. 18 and a guided day hiking trip to Deboullie Oct. 20.
