Tardif graduates basic training

Army Pvt. Matthew M. Tardif has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing the use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Tardif is the son of Nancy Tardif of Caribou. He is a 2009 graduate of Caribou High School.

Martinsackett promoted

AUGUSTA — Col. James D. Campbell, the Adjutant General for the Maine National Guard, announced on Sept. 5 that Whytnie Martinsackett of Caribou earned the rank of SPC of the MAINT CO (HV)(GS).
