    PRESQUE ISLE — Shawn Berube, the new service manager at North Country Auto Service Center, wants to make sure his customers have a positive experience when having a vehicle worked on.
    “Coming into a service shop is not always the place you want to be, but we work with our customers and like to go the extra mile for them,” Berube said. “We want to make it as good an experience as possible in a tough economy.”
    The volume of vehicles that come into the garage is certainly impressive. Berube said between the ACE Rent-A-Car and North Country Auto fleets and other customers, the local service center sees between 1,700 and 1,800 cars per year. That’s why customer service is important to Berube.
    “If you don’t have customers, then you don’t have a business,” he said. “It’s the people that are what keep you alive.
    “We don’t have a corporate environment … it’s more about personal relationships. We have more flexibility in what we can offer,” Berube added.
    North Country Auto Service Center, which is owned by Randy Norsworthy and has been in operation for seven years, is located on 64 Industrial Street in Presque Isle. Business hours are from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
    The business provides normal servicing, oil changes, tire rotation, state inspections and major repairs. The garage has three lifts and four technicians are on staff. They have an air conditioner machine, a smoke machine, a wash bay and provide scanner service, as well as the ability to resurface rotors.
    The center offers shuttle services in-house for retail customers and also has loaner vehicles available.
