Chamber serves local businesses

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce exists to promote the commercial, agricultural and civic interests of Aroostook County, with special emphasis on the 13 communities they serve. Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce changed its name to better reflect the area and activities it supports.
The CACC has served the communities of Ashland, Blaine, Castle Hill, Chapman, Easton, Mapleton, Mars Hill, Masardis, OxBow, Portage Lake, Presque Isle, Washburn and Westfield for a number of years. With increasing use of electronic communications, it’s easier to stay in touch.
The Chamber and Aroostook County Tourism Committee keep calendars of events on their websites for area residents and tourists to learn what is going on in the region. The calendar’s kept as up-to-date as possible, using data provided by local businesses and organizations.
The CACC is the first point of contact for many inquiries about the region, providing the most accurate information available.
”We’re happy to receive information about businesses or events in the area. It’s important businesses inform us of relocations, changes in business hours, etc. New businesses are supported with a ribbon-cutting and six-month free membership. During those six months your business is listed on our website, the contact information is included in our newsletter and you are eligible for member discounts on a variety of advertising options,” said Theresa Fowler, executive director.
The Chamber provides resources and services for members at an affordable price. Benefits range from information and contact information to reduced postage fees and group medical insurance. In addition to these benefits, customers are referred to member businesses daily.
The CACC welcomes involvement from residents of member communities. CACC officials work with event organizers to assist the hosting of successful events. Chamber committees often need volunteers beyond the Board of Directors and welcome the public’s help.
In 2012 hours were extended by changing the part-time secretary’s position to full-time. The Chamber office is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
