Pioneer Broadband recently celebrated 10 years as a local Internet Service Provider based in Houlton. Pioneer Tech Day took place on Aug. 25. The staff at Pioneer wishes to thank everyone that stopped by, and congratulate the door prize winners! Current customers (and customers-to-be!) stopped in to get answers for technical questions and join in the fun.
Started in 2001, Pioneer Wireless was built to help meet the increasing demand for High Speed Internet service in our rural areas. “Crossing the Digital Divide” was their motto back then, and even though service is available from Lubec and Lincoln to as far north as Madawaska, there remain rural pockets that do not have good internet service. Pioneer continues to work to meet the challenge of reaching these areas.
Pioneer is very excited about its newest product, “Fiber to the Home” which is presently under construction in Houlton. They are now able to offer the “Fastest Internet in Houlton”. Download speeds can be as high as 60 Megabits per second. Streaming movies and TV shows will be easier than ever, and gamers will love the low ping times and high speeds!
Continuing the “Fastest Internet in Houlton” theme, Pioneer’s new DSL product (ADSL2+) can achieve download speeds up to 24 Megabits per second. Promotional pricing starts at $29.95 per month with no install fee.
Pioneer also can provide Phone Service and has a very nice DSL+Phone Bundle promotion that starts at $59.95 per month for 12 months, making it very affordable for those on a budget. Pioneer’s Phone service is different from “digital” phone services. It is a “powered” service and will continue to function even during power outages.
Pioneer’s PC Repair and Computer Sales department has been very successful at cleaning customer computers and getting them back in good working order. Competitive pricing on new desktops and laptops helps keep Pioneer customers surfing!
Speaking of customers, says Tim McAfee, Pioneer’s CEO, “All our Tech Support is local. It is vitally important that we serve our customers ‘locally’; we appreciate the loyalty of our long-term patrons!”
Pioneer has served high speed Internet customers for over 10 years. As they move forward, they are adding DirecTV satellite service to their product offerings. Pioneer is now your local DirecTV dealer!
Pioneer Broadband remains the only Internet Service Provider in Maine with a direct connection to the Canadian Internet backbone. This means that if the telecommunication lines between Houlton and Portland are damaged, Pioneer customers still have access to the Internet via Canada.
