Pioneer Broadband’s focus is on fiber for the fastest Internet

    Pioneer Broadband recently celebrated 10 years as a local Internet Service Provider based in Houlton. Pioneer Tech Day took place on Aug. 25. The staff at Pioneer wishes to thank everyone that stopped by, and congratulate the door prize winners! Current customers (and customers-to-be!) stopped in to get answers for technical questions and join in the fun. 
    Started in 2001, Pioneer Wireless was built to help meet the increasing demand for High Speed Internet service in our rural areas. “Crossing the Digital Divide” was their motto back then, and even though service is available from Lubec and Lincoln to as far north as Madawaska, there remain rural pockets that do not have good internet service. Pioneer continues to work to meet the challenge of reaching these areas.

It is a “powered” service and will continue to function even during power outages.

    Pioneer Broadband remains the only Internet Service Provider in Maine with a direct connection to the Canadian Internet backbone. This means that if the telecommunication lines between Houlton and Portland are damaged, Pioneer customers still have access to the Internet via Canada.
