SACS powers past Hodgdon/GHCA

    Boys soccer squads are now busy on the pitch as the regular season is in full swing. Houlton sports a 0-2 record, while Hodgdon/Greater Houlton Christian Academy is 0-3 on the season in Class C. In Class D, Southern Aroostook 1-0-1 notched its first win of the season Monday, while Katahdin and East Grand have yet to play a regular season game.
    Southern Aroostook 6, Hodgdon/GHCA 3 — At Hodgdon Monday, SACS sported a 4-0 halftime lead, but the Hawks rallied in the second half to make it a game. For the Warriors, Cody Lassonde scored twice, while Logan Buckley, Cameron Landry and Parker Walker each added a solo goal. Dylan Porter chipped in the sixth goal with a penalty kick.

    Devin Quint, Chris Hudson and Jonah Sarchfield each scored second-half goals for the Hawks.
    Austin White manned the net for SACS, while Tristan Larson was in goal for Hodgdon/GHCA.
    Central Aroostook 2, Southern Aroostook 2 — At Dyer Brook last Wednesday, the Warriors and Panthers battled to a stalemate after two overtime periods. SACS took a 1-0 lead when Cody Lassonde scored 19 minutes into the contest. But the Panthers came roaring back as Central Aroostook’s Connor Boulier and Dane Kingsbury each scored to give the Panthers a 2-1 advantage.
    The Warriors’ Matt Tarr scored a long-range goal with 6:26 left on an assist from Lassonde to even the score. The teams played evenly through two overtimes.
    Southern Aroostook goalie Austin White stopped 21 of 33 shots faced, while Central Aroostook’s Spencer Garrison knocked away five of seven shots.
    Wisdom 6, Hodgdon/GHCA 0 —At St. Agatha last Wednesday, the Hodgdon/GHCA boys were blanked 6-0 by the Wisdom Pioneers. Shane Chamberland and Evan Esancy both netted two goals, while Dan Columbe and Chance Gervais had one goal each.
    Fort Kent 2, Houlton 1 — At Houlton Friday, the Shires struck first as Jimmy Fitzpatrick sent a rocket shot into the net off a pass from Kyle Bouchard with 12:32 to play in the first half. Fort Kent’s Charlie Nadeau tied the game at 1-1 three minutes later. In the second half, Fort Kent’s Ryan Clark delivered the game winner with 1:44 to play.
    Coby Plourde stopped six of 18 shots for Fort Kent and Houlton’s Kole Buzzeo made seven saves on 12 shots.
