New correspondent
takes over Washburn-area coverage
WASHBURN NEWS
by Tomi Henderson
I am happy to announce that Beth Boddy will now be doing the news for Washburn. She lives right in town with her husband Steve and children Hannah and Jonathan. With a daughter in the school system, she will be able to cover items throughout the town and school and give Washburn a lot better coverage than I’ve been able to do from Mars Hill.
I want to thank everyone that helped me as I covered the Washburn news for the past year and a half. I could not have done it without the support of the different clubs that sent me notices for the paper. I have enjoyed the time spent as your correspondent as Washburn is close to my heart — being my father’s hometown — but feel that each town is better served by a correspondent that lives right in town. I will still root for Washburn — unless they are playing Mars Hill!
I look forward to handing the Washburn news over to Beth; she’ll do a great job! Beth’s contact information is by phone at 455-8427 or at bethwood@hotmail.com.
Raffle winners
The August Festival Committee was pleased to be able to present two raffles this year, due to the generous donations by Perham Oil and the A’Stichin’ And A’Givin’ quilting group. Perham Oil donated 100 gallons of fuel oil, which was won by a happy Crouseville native. The quilt was won by Helen Tompkins of Wade. The money generated by these raffles will go toward next year’s festival. Thanks to all who bought tickets!
