Pee wee soccer
The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department’s pee wee soccer program for boys and girls in grades 2 and 3 will be held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:50-4:15 p.m. The program begins Aug. 30 and ends Oct. 18 and will be held at the small soccer field located in front of the Fort Fairfield Elementary School.
Participants should meet in the elementary school cafeteria immediately after school and be properly equipped and clothed, including sneakers or soccer shoes, shin guards, and clothing appropriate for the weather of the day.
The pee wee soccer program will attempt to teach children the basic fundamentals, skills, rules, conditioning and the game concept of soccer while emphasizing sportsmanship, participation and fair play. Teams may be selected from all those who register, depending on the number of participants to enroll in the program.
Some of the boys and girls who sign up for the program will also have the opportunity to play in soccer games with other teams from throughout Aroostook County this season. A complete schedule of these games will be handed out to all those eligible to play at a later date.
Registration forms are available at the elementary school or at the community center and must be filled out by parents prior to participation. For more information, please contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department at 472-3882.
Youth soccer
The youth soccer program, for boys and girls in grades 4-6, will be held Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:50-4:30 p.m. The program begins Aug. 29 and ends Oct. 17 and will be held at the small soccer field located in front of the Fort Fairfield Elementary School.
Participants should meet in the elementary school cafeteria immediately after school and be properly equipped and clothed, including sneakers or soccer shoes, shin guards, and clothing appropriate for the weather of the day.
The youth soccer program will attempt to further develop the fundamentals, skills, conditioning, rule interpretation and the game concept of soccer while emphasizing participation, teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship.
Sixth-graders participating on the middle school soccer teams are reminded that they can play youth soccer as well as middle school soccer. If there is a conflict on certain days between the two programs, players are encouraged to fulfill your commitment to the middle school team first (middle school soccer is scheduled to end on September 24).
Registration forms are available at school or at the community center and must be filled out by parents prior to participation in the program. For more information, please contact the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department at 472-3882.
