DYER BROOK — Southern Aroostook Community School held a summer school program for children in Kindergarten through sixth grade. Students who participated benefited in many ways. The main focus of the four-week program was for the children to maintain skills learned during the regular school year and work toward specific learning standards.

In addition, they enjoyed learning about classroom themes, did food-related art projects and cooking with Cassie McAfee of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service’s “Eat Well” program. Strawberry picking at Golden Ridge Farm in Sherman is a long tradition and was a highlight again this year! All the hard work and the accomplishments of summer school were celebrated on the last day with a family cookout.
