A moose-themed quilt was the grand prize for a raffle held by the Mark D. LeBlanc Scholarship Fund during Caribou Cares about Kids weekend. Saturday Bernadette LeBlanc displayed the patch sewn into the quilt showing its dedication to her son Mark, who unexpectedly died four years ago due to unknown causes. The quilt was made by Mark’s aunt Sharon Martin. The second prize was a hand-painted photo by Marty Gallant of Caribou and the third prize was $50. The scholarship, created by Bernadette and her husband Bob, is provided annually to a chosen vocational student from Caribou High School. Students may apply for the scholarship, and the applications are reviewed by the LeBlanc family in order to choose the recipient. A future fundraiser for the scholarship fund will be a Bike Run to be held on Saturday, Aug. 25th, sponsored by the American Legion.
