CASTLE HILL — A single-vehicle crash on the State Road Friday morning resulted in a local woman being transported to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
AN ACCIDENT FRIDAY around 7:30 a.m. on the State Road sent the operator of this SUV, Joanna Richards, to TAMC with minor injuries. Maine Public Service was notified and had a crew on site a short time later to replace the broken utility pole. The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting the accident and dispatched an officer around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 10.
“The driver and sole occupant, Joanna Richards, of Castle Hill, was traveling south on the State Road (Route 227) when she lost control of her Ford Explorer, left the road and struck a utility pole,” said Deputy Mitchell Wheeler, investigation officer with the ACSO.
Crown Ambulance responded and transported Richards to TAMC, where she was treated and released later that day.
Members of the Mapleton Fire Department assisted with traffic control, while a crew from Maine Public Service took care of the downed utility pole and wires.
Wheeler said although it had rained prior to the accident, he could not say if weather was a factor.
“Maine State Police were called in to reconstruct the accident. The case remains under investigation at this time,” said Wheeler.
Richards’ vehicle was deemed a total loss.
